Tax manager doing the work

🤩 Starting as an in-house tax professional can initially feel quite glamorous. Until it's not...

You're welcomed into a multinational environment, introduced to key stakeholders, and given a thorough orientation to the business. New hires often visit company sites like plants or warehouses to understand supply chains and value streams. You dive deep into the company's international footprint, review the legal organization chart, and receive briefings on ongoing projects. I vividly remember these moments from my own in-house experience. So exciting, yay!

😰 However, once the initial excitement settles, the organization's true challenges become apparent. The less glamorous aspects emerge. Processes may be suboptimal or nonexistent. Central visibility into global tax operations might be lacking. The reality of manual workloads becomes clear. The data is scattered around and by no means at your fingertips. The constant flow of meetings and emails adds to the pressure.

😩 Now you start to understand why they were in deep need of highly energized tax brains…

What's your experience?
